The Answer to Poverty & Crime
Gary knows firsthand the importance of a quality education, and he has focused on improving educational opportunities for all the people of Louisiana. Gary believes that investing in education is how Louisiana can best fight poverty and crime, while also increasing economic development.

Louisiana has the highest incarceration rate in the world. That bears repeating. Higher than Latin America, China, North Korea, Louisiana has the highest incarceration rate in the world. Gary believes we must create opportunities that steer individuals away from the criminal justice system and into paths of being a productive citizen.
At the same time, Gary believes Louisiana must reform its criminal justice system and smartly reduce the number of non-violent prisoners currently incarcerated.
Gary is a true advocate of equality for all. He supports equal pay for women and quality wages for all employees. If Louisianans put aside their differences and work together, Gary believes Louisiana can compete with any state or region.
A passionate voice for his constituents, Gary will always speak up against injustice, racism and inequality in any form.
Gary recognizes that Louisiana is a transportation hub: Louisiana is blessed to contain the mouth of the great Mississippi River, and all 6 Class A railroads have assets in New Orleans. It is Louisiana’s strategic location that made it great, and Gary wants to invest heavily in Louisiana’s natural assets to create jobs now and grow our economy for generations. Gary’s economic development plan calls for incentivizing the manufacturing of raw materials that flow into the ports of Louisiana.
